Brigadier General Daniel Kakono Takes Over as Commander Field Artillery Division

Brigadier General Daniel Kakono has taken over as Commander Field Artillery Division following his completion of the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC-U) course. He replaced Colonel Poly Ouma, who had been in the position for the last 18 months.

During the handover ceremony, the Chief of Defence Forces, General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, congratulated Brigadier General Kakono for successfully completing the course, which equips participants with the capacity to analyze the general situation of the country, provide solutions for national development, and handle security challenges. He expressed his confidence in Brigadier General Kakono’s ability to lead the division professionally, efficiently, and with accountability to deliver for the development of the country.

General Mbadi thanked Colonel Poly Ouma and his team for the numerous positive achievements and good leadership exhibited during his tenure. He also reminded officers that the army’s strength is anchored on its strategic relationship based on the pro-people ideology, which must be sustained for the peace, stability, and economic development of the country.

During the handover remarks, Colonel Poly Ouma commended the UPDF leadership for the support, guidance, and trust accorded to him during his term in office. Brigadier General Kakono thanked the UPDF leadership for the opportunity to do the NDC-U course and pledged to perform to the expectations of the UPDF leadership.

The ceremony was attended by other military officials, including Brigadier General Joseph Semwanga, Brigadier General Irumba Tingira, Brigadier General Kyambadde, brigade commanders, commanding officers, and heads of departments.

Her most recent engagements include Galaxy FM 100.2 and Radio 4. Additionally, she has served as a writer for Andariya Magazine, further demonstrating her ability to excel in different mediums. Sarah's expertise extends beyond journalism. She has worked as a Digital Communications consultant for the revitalized Uganda Airlines, leveraging her skills to effectively communicate the airline's message in the digital sphere. Her passion for digital media and technology makes her a valuable asset in the evolving landscape of communication. In her entrepreneurial pursuits, Sarah is the proud owner of TheUgPost, a renowned media organization with a strong presence in Uganda and a global reach. Through this platform, she continues to make a significant impact by providing reliable and engaging content to a wide audience.
