Body of fisherman who drowned in L. Vitoria retrieved

Police have retrieved the body of Fred Shaban Masaba a 25-year-old fisherman and resident of Mpanga Village, Buhemba sub county Namayingo district from Lake Victoria.

Masaba together with his colleague one Waiswa Sowali Kidawalime went fishing on the waters of Lake Victoria along Maluba landing site in Namayingo district on 15 March 2021.

According to James Mubi (ASP) PRO Busoga East, the duo spotted Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) patrolling in the event and jumped off from their canoe into waters leaving their illegal fishing gears in the canoe.

FPU managed to rescue Waiswa Sowali Kidawalime while Fred Shaban Masaba drowned.

Search for his body has been on since then until today 17 March when it was retrieved pending postmortem.
