Man kills 10 year old son, critically injures his two other children

Police in Mityana are currently holding Kasozi Sulaiman, a 40-year-old resident of Kikuuta Nfufu village, Kakindu sub-county, Mityana district, in connection with murder and attempted murder cases.

According to reports, on 05/03/2024 around 0200hrs, Kasozi, a father of three, allegedly entered his children’s bedroom while they were asleep and inflicted multiple cuts on their necks. Unfortunately, one child died on the spot, while the other two sustained critical injuries.

Racheal Kawala, the PRO for Wamala Police Region, identified the deceased child as 10-year-old Bukenya Edirisa. The surviving victims are boys aged 5 and 8 years old.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspect may have carried out the attack under pressure from a money lender and the area chairperson. Allegedly, they had falsely arranged a sale agreement without the knowledge of Kasozi’s wife.

The money lender, only identified as Katerega, had reportedly been threatening to evict Kasozi and his family from the mortgaged property, with a debt totaling 3.4 million, though the initial loan was one million. The scheduled eviction was set for 05/03/2024.

Further inquiries indicate that Kasozi had been making threats against his family due to his wife, Ariba Dinah’s, refusal to vacate the house to satisfy the money lender’s demands.

Police tas teams have visited and documented the scene of the crime. Kawala stated that the deceased child’s body was taken to Gombe Hospital for a postmortem examination, while the two surviving victims are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Murder and attempted murder charges have been brought against the suspect, who is currently in custody at Mityana Police Station as investigations continue.
