Police hunt for Kyambogo University senior lecturer over defilement of 16 year old girl
The Directorate of CID, in collaboration with Kampala Metropolitan Police, have launched a manhunt for Dr. Eron Lawrence, a 56-year-old senior lecturer at Kyambogo University. Dr. Lawrence serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation, as well as the Project Administrator for the “All We See Is Possibility” initiative at Kyambogo University.
Dr. Lawrence is sought for allegedly absconding police bond on 14/12/2023 and disappearing following the sanctioning of his case file on 13/12/2023. He is accused of Aggravated Defilement of a 16-year-old girl with a disability. The victim is also visually impaired, while the suspect HIV-positive and holds a position of authority over the victim, as outlined in Sections 129(3), 4(b), (c), and (d) of the Penal Code Acts.
The victim, a beneficiary of the “All We See Is Possibility” project, was accompanied by Dr. Lawrence to Nairobi, Kenya, for a conference, along with four other students. Upon their return on 12/10/2023, Dr. Lawrence allegedly dropped off two students at Namayiba Taxi Park and the third student at North Hall, Kyambogo University. He then continued with the victim, who has a visual impairment and can only see during the day.
The disturbing incident unfolded during the journey from 10:20 pm to Namugongo Nsawo village, Kira municipality. The victim reportedly requested water, which was bought at a supermarket along Ndagire road in Nalya. After consuming the water, she fell unconscious, only to regain consciousness with pain around her private parts, indicating sexual assault within the car.
The victim’s maternal uncle transported her back to her school in Mukono the following morning. The Senior Woman teacher was informed, and the matter was promptly reported to Mukono police. The victim received immediate post-rape treatment. DNA samples recovered from the suspect’s car, a Toyota Wish registration number UBA 349Z, matched those found on the victim’s body.
Police Spokesperson SCP Enanga Fred told the media on Monday that the CID, in collaboration with crime intelligence and other law enforcement partners, is committed to locating the suspect and bringing justice to the alleged heinous crime.

These incidents of sexual abuse against vulnerable disabled female victims show the dangers they face in the community. Enanga says that law enforcement authorities are determined to trace and hold the suspect accountable for this reprehensible crime.
