Kamwenge Horror: Four family members killed, suspect lynched by angry mob
The homicide team at Rwamwaja Police Station in Kamwenge District is currently probing the circumstances surrounding the tragic murder of four members of the same family.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Turyahebwa Gladys, 42 years old, Anita Nuwamanya, 18 years old, Atusasire Onesta, a 9-year-old juvenile, and Ainemani Susan, 16.
The alleged attacker, Asiimwe Sam, 33, was also lynched by an angry mob.
According to SP Vincent Twesige, the PRO Rwenzori West, the incident happened at 10 PM on Monday night, January 15, 2024, in Rwencwera Village, Kinyonza Ward, Nkoma Katelyeba Town Council in Kamwenge District.
Preliminary findings suggest that Asiimwe had domestic issues and accused his sister Gladys of witchcraft. On January 15, 2024, Asiimwe sent his family away. Later that night, he attacked his sister Gladys’ home, resulting in the tragic deaths of four family members.
However, before the suspect could escape, he was subjected to mob justice. Musiimenta Jackson, who responded to the alarm, also suffered injuries in the scuffle, losing two fingers from his right hand.
The incident is currently under investigation, and Twesige has strongly condemned the act of mob justice.
