9 arrested over murder of 14 year old boy in Rwampara
The Police in Rwampara District have in custody 9 suspects in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Ssenyondo Mariamungu whose body was dumped body in River Rwizi.
The deceased was a resident of Kikonkoma 1cell, Kikonkoma ward, Kabura Town Council in Rwampara District.
It’s alleged that on the 01/01/2024 08 family members that included Nalongo Korubaro a step grandmother to the deceased accused him of stealing clothes and phones belonging to some of the suspects
Samson Kasasira the PRO Rwizi Police Region says the deceased was beaten up until revealed where he had hidden the items and accepted to lead them to Nyeihanga Town where they were recovered.
Thereafter, they went back home with the deceased at around 2300/c in Kikonkoma village at the residence of Nalongo Korubaro where they tortured Ssenyondo to death.
Kasasira says that on 3/1/2024 at around midnight, the suspects hired a vehicle belonging to Agaba Owen who transported the dead body to Mbarara City along the Mbarara- Masha Road in company of Mweteise Micheal and Arinaitwe Patrick and dumped it into River Rwizi.
The deceased’s mother identified as Kobusingye Evalyne, a resident of Kicwamba Mbarara City South reported the matter to police after receiving information of the incident leading to the arrest of Mweteise Michael, Arinaitwe Patrick and Agaba Owen.
Upon interrogation, the suspects told police detectives what had occurred and all those involved.
The police initiated a search for the body of the deceased and it was retrieved on 9/1/2024 at about 1700/c from River Rwizi in Mbarara City in a decomposing state.
It is reported that the suspects involved in the matter are close relatives to the deceased who raised him from childhood after the mother separated with the father in Mityana District and handed him over to the step mother Nalongo Korubaro.
