Several passengers injured in Global Bus accident at Kinoni

One person has been seriously injured while several others escaped with minor injuries in an accident that happened at around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28th, 2023, along the Kampala-Mbarara Road.

The accident which occurred at a location known as Kyekurura, shortly after the Kinoni centre in Lwengo District, within Greater Masaka, is blamed on the challenging conditions on the road caused by heavy rainfall.

Twaha Kasirye the PRO Greater Masaka says that the accident involved a Global Bus Reg. No. UBB 985M. The driver of the bus reportedly lost control due to the slippery road conditions resulting from the rainfall.

The bus was travelling from Masaka to Mbarara when the incident occurred.

Only one person sustained serious injuries in the accident while other passengers escaped with minor injuries. Both the local community and law enforcement responded to the scene and rushed the injured individuals to nearby health centres to receive immediate medical attention.

Further arrangements are being made to transfer them to Masaka Referral Hospital.
