Security Guard arrested for shooting businesswoman dead in Bugolobi

The Police at Bugoli and Jinja Road are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the loss of life.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 9 pm, following an altercation between a security guard identified as Aijuka Arode, employed by Security Plus Ltd, and a businesswoman, identified as Mutesi Zainabu, aged 48, who operated a drinks and merchandise store within Bugolobi Market building.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO KMP says that during the confrontation, the security guard allegedly moved a distance of about three meters and fired a single shot at the store where the victim was situated.

Unfortunately, Mutesi was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

However, despite all efforts, she succumbed to the injuries. Her body has been conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for Postmortem examination.

The Police were called to the scene but found that the suspect had fled with his rifle.

A manhunt was immediately launched and Aijuka was arrested on Saturday morning, and he is currently detained at Jinja Road Police.

“We have also successfully recovered the suspected murder weapon. Further details will be provided as soon as possible, as the investigation progresses,” says Owoyesigyire.
