Two residents killed, one injured as ADF rebels attack Ntoroko
Two people have been killed by ADF rebels who attacked Kayanja II village, Rwamabale Parish, Bweramule Subcounty in Ntoroko district.
According to the UPDF spokesperson Brig, Gen Felix Kulaigye, an estimated 20-30 ADF fighters last night crossed River Semuliki into Kayanja in Ntoroko district.
“Our intelligence got wind of them and they were intercepted. A fight is on to decisively deal with the group. 11 of them have been put out of Action. More details will be availed,” said the UPDF spokesperson.
Now, Rwenzori West Regional police spokesperson ASP Vicent Twesige says two people were killed by the ADF rebels in the wee hours of Tuesday, while another victim is hospitalized.
Twesige only identified one of the deceased as Miitu an 80-year-old resident of the same area and a 47-year-old woman who is yet to be identified while the injured is Mick Robert a 28-year-old all members of the same family.
The rebels attacked the home of Bagonza Vicent and killed two people, and injured Robert. The deceased were cut with machetes and died instantly, while the survivor was shot in the left cheek, Twesige says.
Robert is currently admitted to Masindi Health Centre. A team of police officers commanded by Ag DPC Ntoroko, ASP Musoke Ben, the district CID and other officers responded to the call and are currently camped at Rwamabale police post.
