34-Year-Old Man Jumps to Death from Moving Bus in Nakapiripirit
Police in Nakapiripirit District are investigating the circumstances under which a 34-year-old man jumped from a moving bus and died instantly.
IP Longole Mike, the Acting PRO for Mt. Moroto/ASTU, identified the deceased as Bashir Musiwa, a resident of Namalu Trading Center and a taxi blocker in the same area.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when Musiwa jumped from a moving bus belonging to Gateway Company along the Namalu-Nakapiripirit road.
According to reports, on November 28, 2024, at around 12:40 p.m., the deceased was at Namalu Trading Center, Moroto bus stage, when he requested a lift from the driver of a Gateway bus, registration number UAM 467F, which was heading to Moroto District.
Upon boarding, Musiwa informed the bus driver that he was going to Namalu Health Center III for treatment. However, upon reaching the health facility, Musiwa unexpectedly opened the bus door, jumped out, and fell before the bus could stop. Tragically, the rear tyres of the bus ran over him, killing him instantly.
IP Oduc Simon Peter, the Officer in Charge of Traffic Nakapiripirit, reported the matter to the police. Authorities visited the scene, prepared a sketch plan, documented evidence, and recorded statements from eyewitnesses.
The body of the deceased was transported to Tokora Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination before being handed over to his relatives for burial.
