25 Arrested, 2 guns recovered in Kotido

The joint security forces have arrested 25 suspects and recovered two guns during a raid against armed criminal cells at Nakabale and Lokorok trading centres in Kotido District.

According to AIP Longole Mike the Ag. PRO Mt Moroto, the intelligence-led operation by joint security forces which was conducted on 29 Dec 2022, at around 1530Hrs, disrupted armed cattle rustlers who were planning to go and raid animals in Kaabong District.

At Lokorok trading centre, one suspect identified as Kokoi Limakori the son of Lowoyakajen Mureta, resident of Itakwara Village Lokorok Parish Lokwakial sub-county, was arrested.   

Two guns, SMG Reg number UG 1817 (bolt carrier) with 24 rounds of ammunition and SMG No 04421 (bolt carrier) with 10 rounds of ammunition were recovered from his house.

They also recovered 4 pairs of digital uniforms and 1 pair of jungle boots in the same house.

At Nakabale trading centre, the operatives arrested 24 suspects and were taken to 405 Bde headquarters for further investigations. Meanwhile, one warrior was injured in the confrontation and was taken to Kotido Health centre.

Longole says that based on intelligence and community cooperation, similar operations will continue as and when required in order to further break criminal cells and maintain security and peace in Karamoja.
