Ugandan Officials arrive in Mombasa-Kenya for the Kenya – Uganda Agribusiness Symposium and Exhibition

A delegation of Ministers and Government Officials led by Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Francis Mwebesa, has Tuesday afternoon arrived at the Moi International Airport to participate in the Kenya – Uganda Agribusiness Symposium and Exhibition scheduled to take place between 8th – 9th September 2021 in Mombasa – Kenya

The delegation comprises of Ministers and Officials including; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in-charge of Regional Cooperation, Hon. John Mulimba, Minister for State for Trade and Investment Hon. Evelyn Anite, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E Richard Kabonero, Uganda’s Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, H.E James Kinobe, Members of Parliament of the different Committees on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Private Sector Foundation Uganda led by Mr. Steven Asiimwe, Director Policy  & Business Development, Uganda Airlines and Members of the Private Sector among others.

The Delegation was received by H.E Dr. Hassan Galiwango Uganda’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya, Amb. Paul Mukumbya Uganda’s Consul General, in Mombasa, Mr Kingi William Deputy Governor, Mombasa County, Mr Mustafah Ramathan, Chairman Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mombasa Chapter.

The Symposium will take place under the theme; “Unlocking the Full Potential of Agri-business to Enhance Export Performance for National Development”.

It is expected to bring together different agribusiness and agricultural stakeholders including farmer associations and cooperatives, financial service providers, Government officials, agro-processors and agribusiness entrepreneurs and professionals, agro-input dealers drawn from the East African region (EAC).

The Symposium is also an opportunity for Uganda to consolidate its market in Kenya and discover new existing trade opportunities. Some of the issues that will be discussed include enhancing Agricultural trade between Uganda and Kenya, interdependence of agro-based industries in Uganda and Kenya and the available opportunities in the agriculture sector in the two countries.

There will also be a session of business to business and business to Government engagement. These engagements will take place through the lens of the private sector with bias to the sustainable development goals 2030 roadmap, which sets ambitious targets for the Agricultural sector and economic development.

The two days of this symposium, which will take place at the Pride Inn Hotel will also have an Exhibition that will afford an opportunity for the participants to showcase their products and services as well as interact and hear from the most respected leaders in fields such as food safety and standards, agri-technology, pests and diseases and export producers.
