Two in trouble for murdering their neighbour over land wrangles
Detectives at Kagadi Central police station have in custody two suspects for the alleged murder of a man. The suspects have been identified as Moses Bizimana and Jeremiah Tugume, both residents of Tweyanze village in Kyaterekera sub-county.
They are accused of murdering Eriya Asaba 24, a resident of the same area when they raided his home around 8 pm on Monday night and hit him to death using a blunt object.
According to Abel Kapere the LC I Chairperson of Tweyanze, residents heard the deceased screaming for help and rushed to check what was happening only to find his lifeless body lying in a pool of blood in his compound. The suspects tried to flee the scene prompting residents to pursue and arrest them before handing them over to the police.
Kapere says that the suspects have been feuding with the deceased over approximately an acre of land in the same village.
The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza says that the suspects will appear before the court for murder once police investigations are complete.
The deceased’s body is lying at Kagadi general hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.
