Police Warn school heads against holding PLE Results celebrations
The Minister of Education and Sports Janet K Museveni is set to release the 2020 Primary Leaving Examination results at 11:00am this morning.
The event to which a handful of people have been invited, will take place at State House Entebbe.
It has been a norm over the years, that teachers, pupils and parents show up at their respective schools to celebrate good results.
However, police say pupils can easily get exposed to the deadly virus during such risky settings.
“Therefore, all Head teachers are advised to either postpone the school celebrations to some future time when schools reopened or hold a virtual celebration. Remember, there are harsh consequences in form of fines, penalties and punishments for COVID-19 offenders” police warn.
A total of 749, 761 candidates from 14,300 examination Centres registered for PLE in 2020. 53% (395,855) of the registered candidates were females while 47% (353,957) were males. 68.4% (513,091) were funded by government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program. According to Uganda National Examinations Board, overall, the performance of the 2020 candidates is comparable to that of the previous year.
