Panic in Rukungiri as 3-year-old child is kidnapped from parents’ home
Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a 3-year-old girl child identified as Nahwera pulona was kidnapped from her father’s home on 26th January.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson, it is alleged that on the 26/01/2021 at around 1300hours, unknown person went to the home of Byarugaba Julius a Business man and resident of Kyebicere cell Ndere Parish, Ruhinda subcounty in Rukungiri and grabbed the child before making away through the bushes.
Maate adds that when Byarugaba came from his businesses around 1530hours, he found a one Barekye Pauson aged 15years a herdsman and Niwamanya prosper 9yrs looking for the victim.
“He also joined them in the search and during the process, they came across one Nayebare Doreen 20 years a tailor of Katokye cell, Burombe Parish, Ruhinda subcounty who informed them that she saw Akatusasira Benson their village mate carrying the child with a laptop bag at the back and was moving through the bushes. The search team followed him but in vain” Maate says.
The matter was reported at Ruhinda police station and referred to Cps Rukungiri for further management.
According to the police spokesperson, motive of Kidnap is not yet established and inquiries are at hand to arrest the suspect and rescue the victim.
