Museveni Courts Danish Investors in Agribusiness and Renewable Energy

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reiterated his assurance to investors that the government is committed to protecting and supporting their investments, a commitment he says has been strengthened through new technology.

The President’s message was delivered by the Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Edith Nakalema, during a high-level engagement with more than 30 investors from the Danish Agriculture and Food Council trade delegation.

The delegation, led by Jacob Kahl Jepsen from Green Economy, Trade and Climate at the Embassy of Denmark, represented the Danish Ambassador to Uganda.

The investors expressed interest in Uganda’s agribusiness, solar energy solutions, and vocational skills development sectors.

Speaking during the meeting at SHIPU offices in Kampala, Col. Nakalema highlighted the launch of the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP), a digital platform commissioned by the President in December 2023.

“EIPP links Ministries, Departments and Agencies and enables investors to authenticate investment procedures and contact persons. We encourage you to utilize it to conduct due diligence,” she said.

She added that the portal is accessible globally and is designed to boost investor confidence by providing access to services and investment opportunities.

Col. Nakalema also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting investors through faster coordination with relevant government institutions.

“Our commitment is to ensure your investments are safe, profitable and impactful. You are not only partners but an integral part of Uganda’s transformation journey toward an industrial economy anchored on value addition,” she said.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr Jepsen thanked the Ugandan government for the warm reception and reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, particularly in agribusiness and renewable energy.

He noted that the delegation is focusing on opportunities within the African market, especially in East Africa, with Uganda as a key area of interest.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board, Juliana Kagwa, encouraged the Danish investors to explore the country’s tourism potential.

She invited them to experience Uganda’s wildlife, natural beauty, favourable climate, and hospitality, describing the country as the “Pearl of Africa.”
