Museveni Appoints Muyingo Acting Education Minister
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo as the Acting Minister of Education and Sports.
Muyingo, who has served as the State Minister for Higher Education since 2016 and was recently reappointed to the same position, will now oversee the Education and Sports Ministry in the absence of the substantive minister, First Lady Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni.
“In exercise of the powers vested in the President under Article 99(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo as the Acting Minister of Education and Sports in the absence of a substantive Minister. The appointment takes immediate effect,” reads the appointment letter.
The development comes barely a day after President Museveni appointed Hon. Haruna Kasolo as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive Minister,” President Museveni stated in a letter dated June 22, 2026.
Hon. Kasolo currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation).
