Health Ministry urges Ugandans to get vaccinated as ICUs fill up, cases & deaths increase
The Ministry of Health has urged Ugandans to practice the Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs put in place to protect them from catching COVID-19.
The warning follows a tremendous increase in COVID-19 cases and the number of people dying.
“WARNING; The number of new COVID-19 cases have increased with a number of people dying. Adhere to the COVID-19 SOPs. DONOT BE PART OF THE COVID-19 STATISTIC. STAY SAFE” the Ministry warned on Social media today.
According to the Ministry, ICU facilities are getting full to capacity, meaning there is a possibility for deaths to increase in the coming days.
As of 22nd May 2021, Uganda had registered 43,919 cumulative cases and 357 deaths. According to the Ministry, the test Positivity rate is at 6.2%, while Active cases on admission are at 140.
Cumulative recoveries are at 43,401, Total persons vaccinated with 1st dose: 511,064 and Total persons vaccinated with 2nd dose: 2,274.
For the last two weeks, COVID-19 cases have been on an increase and Ugandans have been urged to get vaccinated and follow the SOPs.
