Horror as one year old child dies in a fire
Police in Pallisa district is investigating a fire that killed one person. The incident happened at around 1:00 am on 19th May 2022 at the home of Apar Anna Grace a 34-year-old resident of Atitir Island Obutet Sub county.
The fire burnt her daughter Apar Anna a 1½ year old child to death.
It is alleged that on the 18.05.22 at 1800/c, Apar Anna Grace who deals in selling smoked fish at the island set fire to smoke fish and she slept off only to wake up when fire had caught the net and spread to the whole grass thatched shelter.
Alaso Immaculate Pro Bukedi North Region says the mother tried to rescue the child but she was already stuck in the burning net.
She made an alarm which alerted the neighbors who rushed to rescue the child but it was too late. Instead, they also sustained injuries from the fire.
The body has been conveyed to Pallisa general hospital for postmortem.
