Security Guard shoots pump attendant dead at Bam Petrol station in Nyendo-Masaka
Police in Masaka City has arrested a security guard who shot and killed Kakoza Paul a pump attendant at Bam Petrol station Nakaiba Nyendo Mukungwe Division.
According to Muhamad Nsubuga the Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, it is alleged that on 25/4/2022 at 3:00 am, the deceased was on night duty together with his colleague identified as Balikudembe Joseph and the security guard (suspect) Tumusiime Ambrose attached to Tiger Security Company.
The deceased had taken a nap inside the office, when Tumusiime entered, shot him on the head killing him instantly, with the intent to steal the money which had been collected by the deceased.
However, to the suspect’s disappointment, the money had already been kept in the safe and the deceased had only Ugx 100,000 on him, which the suspect took.
Tumusiime also stole the deceased’s Samsung mobile.
Meanwhile, Balikudembe could not clearly explain his whereabouts during the incident but told officers that he was sleeping and when he woke up there was no power.
“He came out to call the suspect to help rectify the power issue but didn’t find him. He then went straight inside to call the deceased only to find him in a pool of blood,” Nsubuga says.
It was further established that the suspect tried to access the room where the safe is kept in vain. He managed to break the outside padlock but failed with the inside one.
The station had only one armed guard on duty.
The DPC, OC CID, Crime Intelligence, team of Homicide and soco visited the scene and picked the body which has been handed over to Masaka Referral hospital for postmortem
The officers recovered some exhibits including one cartridge, 3 rounds of ammunition, a breaking implement, and one piece of broken padlock.
The riffle SMG used in the murder was recovered from outside the office abandoned with three rounds of ammunition.
Police arrested Balikudembe to assist with investigations.
The suspect is currently on the run but detectives have started tracing for him through his security company managers.
