Government under fire over delays of COVID19 Results at Entebbe International Airport
Ministry of Health says it is working around the clock to address the delays experienced by incoming travelers at Entebbe International Airport.
The government has come under fire over the delays caused by the mandatory testing launched by resident Yoweri Museveni.
According to the new regulations, every passenger entering Uganda, despite their point of origin, must undergo a COVID19 test at the airport at a cost of UGX 100,000.
However, since the exercise was rolled out many passengers say it takes too long to make the payment and even longer for the results to finally come back. Some even claim their results do not return even after giving samples and making payment.
Now, Emmanuel Ainebyoona the Ministry of Health Spokesperson says they are working fast to ensure the issue is resolved.
“We are working around the clock to address the delays experienced by incoming travelers at Entebbe International Airport. We would like to reassure all incoming travelers that we are doing all it takes to ensure that you are not inconvenienced” Ainebyoona says.
The exercise was introduced to help ensure that no positive cases of COVID19 go unnoticed. But many travelers say this is unnecessary since they undergo PCR tests in 72 hours of their travel.
One of the tourists even took to twitter to advise people to avoid traveling to Uganda through Entebbe Airport due to frustrations caused by delays of people waiting for their results.
