Police hunt for assailants who killed security guard with a hammer
Police have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants who murdered a security guard at a construction site in Makindye and made off with property worth Shillings 7.5 Million.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson identifies the deceased as 35-year-old Stephen Opio Epale.
He was killed in the wee hours of Wednesday morning while guarding the construction site belonging to Ahmed Ssuna in Kelezia zone in Makindye division and his body was found lying in a pool of blood
by the site manager, Arafat Ali Bamulesewa. According to Bamulesewa, hereceived a phone call from Opio’s boss who said the deceased’s phone was off, prompting him to go and check on him only to find his lifeless body in a pool of blood.
Onyango says that a team of Homicide detectives from Katwe Police division visited the scene and recovered a blood-stained hammer, which is believed to have been used in the crime.
Some construction materials and equipment including three bags of cement, two drills, three wheelbarrows, deceased Techno phone and other property valued at Shillings 7.5 million were stolen by the assailants from the constriction site.
