50 Year Old Woman Raped and Killed in Amudat District
Authorities in Amudat District are investigating the death of a 50-year-old woman, identified as Paulina Chemukai, who was reportedly raped and killed by unknown assailants.
Chemukai, a resident of Kongoror Village in Amudat Town Council, was found dead near the Kanyangaren River in Kakaresi Village.
Reports indicate that on the morning of December 1, 2024, Chemukai and her husband, John Lotirwari, left their home to drink alcohol in Lotirwari Ward, where they spent the day. At around 8:00 p.m., Chemukai reportedly went missing, leaving her husband at the drinking establishment. He later returned home alone.
Tragically, the following morning, Chemukai’s body was discovered lying unclothed by passersby near the Kanyangaren River. The matter was reported to Amudat Police Station, where a case of suspected murder was registered under CRB 171/2024.
According to IP Longole Mike, Acting PRO for Mt. Moroto/ASTU, preliminary investigations suggest that the assailants took advantage of Chemukai’s vulnerable state, assaulted her, and then took her life.
A team from the police, including homicide investigators, the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), a canine unit, and uniformed personnel led by the Amudat District Police Commander, visited the scene. The area was documented, sketched, and photographed, and witness statements were recorded. However, the canine unit did not yield any significant leads.
Chemukai’s body was transported to Amudat Hospital for a postmortem examination.
“We appeal to the public to provide any information that may assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects,” said IP Longole, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing.
