Police Hunt for Suspects in Kole District Murder Investigation
The police in Kole District are investigating and searching for Adong Agnes and an unidentified man, both of whom disappeared following the death of Okello Francis, aged 45. Okello was discovered dead in a swamp in Adwir Village, Bar Akalo Parish, Akalo Sub-County, Kole District.
According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema the PRO – North Kyoga Region, the incident is alleged to have occurred on the night of November 27, 2024, and was reported to Akalo Police Station by LC I Chairperson Otuku Denis on November 28, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
It is reported that on November 28, 2024, at around 9:30 a.m., one Awel Colin went to check on her rice in the swamp. However, upon reaching her garden, she noticed an abandoned jacket. After looking around, she found a body floating in shallow water, about 10 meters from the jacket.
Awel immediately informed the LC I Chairperson of Adwir Village, who subsequently reported the matter to Akalo Police Station.
A case of suspected murder was registered, and the scene of the crime was visited, examined, and documented by the SOCO. Statements were recorded from people in the area. A search of the deceased’s house led to the recovery of clothes belonging to Adong Agnes (the deceased’s wife), two horns (one from a cow and another from an unknown animal), and some dried local green herbs.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, pending a postmortem examination.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had separated from Adong 15 years ago due to domestic misunderstandings. The couple, who had two daughters, had been living apart until recently when Adong returned home.
She reportedly found that the deceased had married another wife, whom she allegedly chased away. It is further alleged that the suspect had become a witch doctor and was living with a man assisting her in her practice.
The disappearance of Adong Agnes and the unidentified man has raised suspicions. SP Okema has urged them to report to the nearest police station to prove their innocence and allow investigations to proceed.
