Anemic Woman Dies After Week of Prayers at Pastor’s Home in Pallisa
A dark cloud has descended on Owagalye village, Kaboloi Parish, Pallisa Subcounty in Pallisa District, following the death of a resident, identified as Akurut Stella, aged 29, at the home of a local pastor.
Akurut passed away on 20/09/2024 at around 8:00 a.m. after suffering from an anemic attack. It is reported that on 13/09/2024, she developed complications and was taken to a local clinic for treatment by her family.
Allegedly, she had been receiving treatment at the same clinic for some time. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and the health workers referred her to Pallisa General Hospital for a blood transfusion.
However, her family, led by her husband, Obonete Michael, decided to take her instead to the home of Okupa Christopher, a self-appointed pastor of Apetete (Akisim), for prayers, hoping for a miracle.
After seven days of “intense prayers,” Akurut’s condition deteriorated further, and she died at the pastor’s house.
SP Semewo Samuel, the acting PRO of Bukedi North, stated that the matter was reported to Kameke Police Post, and investigations have commenced. Police officers visited the scene and collected statements from relevant individuals.
The body has been transferred to Pallisa General Hospital for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
