London-Based-Ugandan Singer Seby Ntege Set To Hold First Concert In Uganda

We are already in that last half of the year where every weekend is filled with artistes’ concerts.

On Saturday the 10th of August, London-based-Ugandan Afro fusion and folkloric dance singer Seby Ntege is holding his Made In Uganda concert at Alliance Francaise Kampala Rooftop.

Saby who is excited to share stage with the freshest local artistes as well as thrill his fans come D-day says that the concert will be a rendition of songs off his two albums titled Five Notes and Love and Heritage, and some new songs from his upcoming projects.

“With a hand picked Ugandan band, revellers should expect a fresh hybrid of joyful Afrosoul World Music. They should expect to see and understand who Seby is and since I have been in the music industry for 15 years and more” – Seby told this website.

Hailing from Busoga region in Eastern Uganda, Seby Ntege is a uniquely charismatic singer and songwriter renowned for producing some of East Africa’s best multi instrumentalists and is himself a master of half a dozen folkloric instruments, including the Akogo Thumb Piano and Adungu Harp among others.

Born in a musical household, Seby joined his family band, Nile Beat Artistes aged 13, introducing him early to the international stage and touring neighbouring African countries as an instrumentalist and dancer.

The London based is regarded as an ambassador of traditional Ugandan music.

In 2018 gathering a multicultural band around him, Seby distilled this journey into a highly autobiographical album entitled Five Notes that would showcase his virtuosity as a musician.

Picked up by A World In London’s DJ Ritu and championed by BBC Radio 3’s Max Reinhardt via BBC Introducing, Five Notes received praise on BBC World Service, Resonance FM and BBC London, leading to live appearances at WOMAD and Latitude festivals and a 10 date UK tour supported by Arts Council England. 2021 saw Seby release a five track EP entitled Nomads while 2022 has seen seby and band perform at the Tropical pressure festival and Beardy folk festival among others.

This free concert that will start at 6 PM is powered by Alliance Francaise Kampala, Total Energies, Dustvile Records and Aliddeki.
