7-year-old pupil killed as vehicle ploughs into School fence
A dark cloud has covered Candy Kids Nursery and Primary School in Kamuli after a motor vehicle crashed into the perimeter fence, killing 7-year-old Nakafero Robina, a pupil in P2 class instantly.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police says that the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number UAZ 896J, knocked the fence at approximately 7:10 am, causing fatal injuries to Nakafero.
The authorities were immediately alerted, and the police responded promptly to the scene. The body of the deceased has been taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem examination.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Robina, and we share in their grief during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the entire Candy Kids school community, who have been deeply affected by this tragic event,” says Owoyesigyire.
He adds that the driver of the vehicle has been apprehended, and the vehicle has been towed to Kira Police station as inquiries into the matter have been initiated.
“We urge the public to exercise caution on the roads and to prioritize the safety of themselves and others. We will continue to keep the public informed as more details emerge from the ongoing investigation,” he noted.
