Woman on the run after burying her 10-month-old son alive- Busia
The police in Busia are hunting for a 20-year-old woman identified as Anyango Sharon a resident of Luhalali village, Buhehe sub-county, in Busia district for burying her 10-month-old baby alive.
It is alleged that Anyango separated from her husband Ouma Tobias a resident of Natongo village, Buhehe parish, Buhehe sub-county, in Busia district. The couple had one child, Bwire Humphrey whom she took back with her to her parents.
However, on 06/11/2022 at around 2:00 pm, Anyango attempted to throw the child into the latrine alive but was restrained by the neighbours who also rescued the baby.
Moses Mugwe the PRO Bukedi South Region says that the suspect disappeared with the child at around 3:00 pm on the same day and buried the infant in the swamp located in the same village.
On Monday, residents found the child buried in the swamp and reported the matter to Buhehe police post
Police officers from Buhehe together with the scene of crime officers and the Homicide team visited the scene and retrieved the body which was handed over to Busia municipal health centre 4 for postmortem.
An autopsy report by the doctor indicates that the child was buried alive by the suspect and died due to suffocation.
The suspect is on the run.
