9-year-old child commits suicide by hanging in latrine

The Police in Matuga is investigating the Suicide of Zalwango Esther, a 9-year-old child that occurred today Thursday 20th January 2022 in Kiryagonja Matugga Wakiso District.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO KMP, it is alleged that one Nakiwala Hadijah the child’s grandmother asked her to wash utensils at around 0900hrs.

The deceased allegedly picked all the utensils and placed them on the verandah along with the water. However, Hadijah went to buy diapers but only to come back with no trace of Esther.

When she went to the latrine, she found Esther hanging inside.

The police were informed about this and responded. The deceased’s body was conveyed to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem as inquiries continue.

The cause of the alleged suicide is not known as there are a lot of allegations against the grandmother which the police is looking into.
