Wall fence collapses killing six-year-old child in Kabowa

Police in Katwe are investigating circumstances under which a wall fence collapsed, killing a six-year-old child.

the deceased has been identified as Katumba Abgart a daughter of Katumba Daniel aged 29 years, a resident of Kabowa zone, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division in Kampala District.

It is alleged that the child was hit by a wall of their neighbour identified as Tata Amidu. The latter allegedly had a building under construction but part of the wall has some cracks and was being supported by some poles to prevent it from collapsing.

However, today, the deceased was passing next to the weak wall when it collapsed injuring her badly. The child was rushed to Rubaga Hospital but succumbed to the injuries along the way.

The deceased’s body is at Rubaga Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

SSP Patrick Onyango the PRO KMP says the Police have recorded statements from the deceased’s father and mother.

They visited and documented the scene of the crime.

Onyango says they are yet to establish the circumstances under which the wall collapsed and killed the child.
