UPDF Officer kills colleague over woman in Isingiro

The Police in Isingiro district are investigating circumstances under which a UPDF officer RA267422 Private Omeri James Kamarendi attached to 29 Battalion guarding one Madam Generous, the Chairperson LC1 of Kitooha cell, Kahenda Parish, Bireere sub-county shot and killed his colleague over a woman before going into hiding.

The deceased has been identified as RA267313 Private Bwire Laurence aged 29years also attached to the same Battalion on the night of 31/05/2022 around 0200/c.

ASP Kasasira Samson the PRO Rwizi says that preliminary investigations indicate that the duo had a long-standing conflict over the maid working for Madam Generous which is suspected to have sparked off the fight leading to a shootout.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

The two ruffles and cartridges have been recovered and exhibited.

Police are working together with the UPDF to track down the suspect who is still in hiding.
