Three Killed in Head-On Collision Near Kamengo, Mpigi

Three people are dead, and one has sustained serious injuries following an accident in Mpigi on Wednesday night around 11:40 pm.

The incident occurred in Kamengo, at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp along the Masaka-Kampala highway involving two vehicles: M/V UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso & UBH 247L Subaru Forester.

According to Michael Kananura, the PRO of Traffic Police, the preliminary report indicates that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions before a head-on collision occurred.

M/V UAL 695U Mitsubishi Fuso was traveling from Kampala towards Masaka, and at Kasuule Ayanguwa Swamp in Kamengo along the Masaka-Kampala highway, it collided with M/V UBH 247L Subaru Forester, which was traveling from Masaka to Kampala, resulting in the instant death of 3 occupants of the Subaru Forester, including its driver. One passenger in the same vehicle sustained critical injuries.

The injured person was rushed to Double Cure in Mpigi for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Gombe hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

Kasasira says that both vehicles have been towed to Kamengo police station pending inspection, while the identities of the deceased are yet to be released.
