Teacher Arrested for Defiling 13 year 13-year-old child in Kanungu

The Police in Kanungu are holding Brian Akampurira, a 30-year-old secondary school teacher and resident of Ndeba Cell, Kihihi Town Council, Kanungu District, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl from the same area.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. It is alleged that while the victim was heading for prayers at Healing Allena Church located in Karaunda Village, she met the suspect, who is known to her by appearance.

According to the police spokesperson for Kigezi region, ASP Elly Maate, the suspect allegedly lured the victim into a nearby eucalyptus forest near Bright Future Primary School, where he had defiled her.

The victim is said to have made an alarm, but there was no rescue, as the area was isolated. She was later assisted by a Good Samaritan who helped her reach the Kihihi Police Station to report the matter.

Coincidentally, the suspect also appeared at the same police station, where the victim, who was recording her statement, immediately identified him. He was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated defilement.

Maate says that upon completion of investigations, the suspect will be produced before the courts of law to answer to the charges accordingly.
