Student killed, three others injured in Kyamate Secondary School fire

One student died following a fire outbreak at Kyamate Secondary School in Ntungamo district.

It is reported that fire gutted one block containing two male dormitories at around 2100/c killing Atukwatse Bonus 13 years old and injuring three others identified axsMarvin Nuwenyesiga, Isaiah Ajjuna and Amanya Lisbon who were rushed to Doctor Bedas Clinic in Ntungamo Town where they are admitted.

The block houses 146 students of Senior One whose property worth millions was destroyed including books, suitcases, mattresses, clothes and the roof of the structure.

According to ASP Kasasira Samson the PRO RWIZI, the Police Fire and Rescue services responded and were able to contain the fire, but the cause of the fire has not been established.

The body of the deceased student was taken to Itojo hospital mortuary.

Kasasira says that preliminary findings indicate that the fire is suspected to have been started by four students using petrol. The students have been arrested and they include; Kanyesingye Odongo Odmaro, Arinaitwe Anthony, Tumwesigye Arnold and Arinaitwe Elijah.
