President Yoweri Museveni Arrives in Juba on Official Working Visit
President Yoweri Museveni arrived today in the capital, Juba, for a working visit to the Republic of South Sudan. He was welcomed upon arrival at Juba International Airport by his host, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Among those present to greet President Museveni were South Sudan’s Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Chol Mawut Ajongo; the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ramadan Muhammed Abdalla; the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Chol Thon Balok; and other senior government officials.

On the Ugandan side, the President was received by the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth; Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso; Ugandan Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan H.E. Brig. Gen. Ronnie Balya; and others.

President Museveni inspected a guard of honor upon his arrival in advance of the anticipated meeting with President Salva Kiir and other stakeholders for bilateral talks between the two nations.
The visit comes at a time when South Sudan is facing internal conflict with the First Vice President Riek Machar under house arrest. UPDF recently deployed some of its officers to aid in peace keeping in the neighbouring country.
