Police Investigate Murder of Casual Worker Found Dead in Busia Stream
The territorial police in Busia investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old casual worker identified as Musa Afugilawa.
The police report indicates that the body of the deceased was found on April 9, 2023, in a stream in Mugungu B Cell, Busia Municipality.
Authorities were alerted by an empty mineral water bottles collector who discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified person lying prone in the stream. He immediately informed the local community police post and the scene of the crime was visited and examined by the District CID/O, SOCO, and Homicide team from CPS Busia.
The body was retrieved from the swamp and transported to Busia H/C IV for a postmortem examination. It was revealed that the deceased had multiple visible cut wounds and rashes on his body. The police are still conducting inquiries to determine the cause of the death and identify the perpetrators.
The Acting PRO of Bukedi South Region, IP Mugwe J Moses, urged the public to assist the police with any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order and called on members of the public to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
The family of the deceased is yet to come forward to identify the body, and investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the murder.
