Police arrest one over murder of unknown man in Njeru

The Police in Njeru in Buikwe district are investigating the murder by a mob of an unidentified person which occurred today Friday at St Abel primary School junction along Jinja Kampala highway.

This incident happened between 0400/cc -0500/cc at Kisoga Zone Mbiko Njeru Municipality in Buikwe district.

According to Hellen Butoto the PRO Ssezibwa Region, at around 0552 hrs 02/12/2022, Kalani Suleiman Mwanje reported to CPS Njeru that a murder by mob justice of unknown person had occurred at St Abel primary school junction along Jinja Kampala highway.

The police rushed to the scene and picked up the body which was later conveyed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.

The officers also arrested one person identified as Kyonjo Ibrahim to aid the investigations.

However, they also observed that there were no stones, sticks or otherwise at the scene suggesting mob action.

Butoto says the deceased’s body had clean clothes not soiled and hands tied behind the back ruling out mob justice.

She adds that the body had only one deep stab wound on the right part of the head near the ear.
