Police accuse Dr. Besigye of attempting to reactivate the P-10
The Joint Security Agencies say they have obtained credible information about plans by the Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye and other opposition agents, to reactivate the P-10 structure, in all cells and local councils, within the greater Kampala area, to cause acts of disorder, lawlessness, and mayhem in Kampala.
CP Enanga Fred the Police Spokesperson says that Dr. Besigye should use legitimate means to achieve his objectives and further remind him that the Public Order Management Act is still in force.
“Therefore, any individual actors or groups with plans of holding a public meeting must inform the police about the details of their planned meetings. Our country has now spent about 13 months without any violent protests and demonstrations. And we want to reassure the public, especially the private and business sector, the education sector, and the transport sector, that we shall not allow any actions that are in breach of the prevailing peace and security, in the country to occur” Enanga added.
He noted that all police response teams are on standby and will respond swiftly targeting the perpetrators, instigators of violence, ring leaders, participants, and those who may be funding such illegitimate plans of violence.
Enanga notes that this is to ensure the rights of the majority of Ugandans to life, property, peace, and safety are not disrupted by the perennial instigators of violence.
