Pallisa Police Probe Defilement of 12-Year-Old, Suspect in Custody

Police in Pallisa District have arrested a man suspected of defiling a 12-year-old girl (names withheld because she is a minor) in Adal Village, Kaukura Sub-county.

According to ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the PRO for Bukedi North Region, the incident occurred on October 9, 2025, and was officially reported to police on October 13 by the child’s mother (also names withheld to protect the victim), a resident of Adal Village.

Preliminary findings indicate that the young girl had gone to Adal Trading Centre in the evening, accompanied by friends, when the suspect allegedly ambushed and sexually assaulted her on their way back home. The child later informed her mother, who immediately reported the case at Apopongo Police Post, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Kyempasa says that both the victim and suspect were medically examined to support ongoing investigations. Scene of Crime Officers also visited the location to collect evidence.

The suspect is in custody, and inquiries are ongoing. “We commend the family for promptly reporting the matter and encourage communities to always speak out against child abuse,” said ASP Kyempasa.

He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s movements closely and to report any form of sexual violence or exploitation to the nearest police station or child protection office.
