Horror as Prison Warder, Inmate suffocate to death inside Septic tank

The Police in the Albertine region are investigating the death is a Prison warder and an inmate in a septic tank at Masindi town.  

According to Julius Hakiza the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, the deceased warder is Corporal Abel Owori 28 while the deceased inmate is Samuel Rubalire 62.  

The incident happened on Monday afternoon a few meters from the Masindi government Prison. 

The spokesperson says that the inmate, under the guard of Owori had been instructed to enter the septic tank to clean a sewerage channel that went through the tank and had been blocked but unfortunately, he suffocated. 

Owori, after noticing that Rubalire was unconscious while in the septic tank, entered to rescue the inmate but he also suffocated.     

The police fire brigade from Masindi station rushed and retrieved the bodies and later took them to Masindi Hospital Mortuary for post mortem.

According to Hakiza, the circumstances of the accident will be determined after a preliminary investigation.

Eyewitnesses say the guard was heard crying for help while inside the septic tank, but by the time his colleagues responded, it was too late.
