Fuso Fighter Overturns, Killing Two at Lugogo Cricket Oval

Two people have been confirmed dead in a fatal crash that occurred today, 28th February 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Lugogo Cricket Oval, opposite 4th Street along the Kampala-Jinja Highway.

The crash involved motor vehicles UBF 473B, a Fuso Fighter, UBF 215B, a Fuso Fighter box body, and motorcycle UMA 755BA.

According to SP Kananura Michael, the CLO of the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, the incident happened when the driver of UBF 473B, traveling from Kampala, lost control and collided with motor vehicle UBF 215B and the motorcycle, which were moving in the same direction.

The Fuso Fighter overturned, landing on the motorcycle and instantly killing its rider and passenger. Preliminary investigations suggest that the recklessness of the driver of UBF 473B, who is currently at large, caused the crash.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. The vehicles involved have been towed to Jinja Road Police Station as inquiries begin.

“We urge all motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving, particularly in urban areas, and to strictly adhere to designated speed limits,” said Kananura.
