Dr. Maggie Kigozi Officially Launches Pelere Group Factory In Gulu City
On August 7, 2024, Pelere Group inaugurated its new factory in Gulu City, Northern Uganda. The facility is set to produce approximately 20 tonnes of oilseeds per day, including Nilotica shea butter, sunflower seeds, soybeans, groundnuts, and castor oil.
This launch aligns with Pelere Group’s ambitious goal to impact one million farmers by 2026 by creating local jobs, increasing exports, and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Dr. Maggie Kigozi, a representative from the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) advisory committee, praised the Uganda Development Bank Ltd (UDB) for providing numerous opportunities for women in the journey towards economic empowerment.
Sandra Letio, CEO of Pelere Group, emphasized the significance of this milestone, noting the hard work invested. “Our persistence will drive a greater impact with the bigger factory, creating more jobs and enhancing our commitment to local farmers and sustainable practices,” Letio said.
“Pelere Group’s new facility will not only enhance production capabilities but also create employment opportunities and boost the local economy. This development aligns with our mission to foster socio-economic growth and environmental sustainability in the region,” she added.
