Horror as Hippo kills one on Lake Victoria

The police in Bukakata are searching for the body of Mayiga Vincent a 37-year-old resident of Bukibonga LC 1 Bukakata sub-county who is suspected to have been killed by a Hippo.

Mayiga was killed while fishing on Saturday night. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased left his home last evening to go fishing in Lake Victoria.

However, his family members waited all night but he didn’t return home. This prompted them to go looking for him on Sunday morning but found his canoe broken into pieces and floating on the water.

The matter was reported to police who visited the scene, led by OC Lambu Asp Nuwe.

According to Muhamad Nsubuga the PRO Greater Masaka Region, the search for the body is ongoing by both locals and police.
