Child drowns in pond at Munyonyo Speke Resort

The Police at Kabalagala is investigating the circumstances under which a 2-year old girl drowned in a pond at Munyonyo Speke resort.

The incident happened on Sunday 27th March 2022 at about 7 pm, after the child gained access to the premises with her parents Nabawesi Florence and the father only identified as Micheal.

However, she wandered away from them and fell into a nearby Pond.

The incident was captured on camera, according to the CCTV footage recovered from the premises.

Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP PRO says the child was rescued and given CPR by near first responders and later taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigations into the incident are on and currently, the parents are being accused of Negligence for allowing the child to wander during night time.

Owoyesigyire urged parents to always keep a close eye on their children while moving in new environments.
