Businessman Naggenda appointed KACITA Ag. Chairperson
Businessman Thaddeus Musoke Naggenda has been appointed acting chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA). He has been the association’s secretary-general for 4 years.
Naggenda replaces Everest Kayondo who passed away in June this year (succumbed to COVID-19), after leading the association for close to 16 years.
Naggenda’s announcement as chairperson KACITA was made on Monday during a press conference held at their offices in Kampala. He was appointed in an extraordinary meeting held on August 11th, 2021 by the board and other stakeholders. His term of office started today until when their next annual general meeting will be held.
He has been a member of the association for close to 15 years at different levels of service and holds a master’s degree in business administration and a diploma in journalism. He is the director of Keno giants, an electronics dealership at Kirumira towers in Kampala city.
Naggenda in his first address as the association chairperson noted that their major focus will be on the continuity of the associations’ operations and service delivery to its partners and the business community.
Adding that they will also be handling the challenges affecting the business community which was brought about by the recently eased lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Naggenda emphasized that K.A.C.I.T.A is committed to serving the business community and on the rent arrears, the association board resolved they will engage the arcade landlords which has already started.
He talked about engaging the Bank of Uganda, Ministry of finance, and ministry of trade so that government intervenes on the issue of loans. He said they are requesting that the banks have special considerations for these people.
