Police warns against planned Nationwide violent Demonstrations
Police has warned a section of opposition politicians who are allegedly planning nationwide violent processions beginning with Kampala Metropolitan area today, to stand down.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy PRO KMP says they received information from their credible sources about the plan being hatched by the said politicians to cause disruption nationwide.
“The organizers of these illegal demonstrations are mobilizing the public using social media and leaflets with wording that reads ‘Time is Now’ join the nationwide protests to fight for our victory. Museveni tajakulayila” Owoyesigyire noted.
He says they have deployed strategically counter the illegal acts and they are continuing with vigilance. Owoyesigyire further warned the organizers to desist from participating in any unlawful activities.
“The police will not hesitate to arrest and charge in courts of law anyone who will be found participating in these illegal activities.”
The Director Operations AIGP Edward Ochom has now ordered all Regional Police Commanders, Unit Commanders and District Police Commanders a to mobilize and put all personnel under their command on stand by class one and deployments to be made around black spots.
He also instructed the commanders to enhance visibility by enforcing foot and motorized patrols with clear command and the telephone number of the team leader. Road barriers and snap check points should be in place and officers need to check movements of especially the youth. The curfew time should be strictly adhered to and ensure that the COVID-19 regulations are followed to the latter.
