Mobile Money vendors robbed of 50 million Shillings
Detectives at Seeta police station are hunting for armed robbers who attacked mobile money vendors and robbed them of money amounting to 50 million Ugandan shillings and six phones.
The incidents happened on Thursday evening at Kazinga, Bweyogerere road in Mukono District.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP identified the victims as Ssebayiga Emmanuel and Babirye Rachel who operate a mobile money business in Kireka.
The duo was travelling in their vehicle Reg No. UEB 056W when they were intercepted by two men dressed in military camouflage attire.
The suspects who were armed with AK 47 rifles forcibly removed the driver from the steering before robbing the victims of the properties.
The suspects fled the scene in vehicle registration number UAS 976P.
“The police were alerted and managed to rescue the victims and recover the victim’s vehicle, which had been abandoned without its ignition key,’ says Owoyesigyire.
He says police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and have forwarded the registration number of the vehicle to the CCTV control room for tracking.
