5 people allegedly knocked dead by police in Nakifuma

Five people have allegedly been knocked dead by police in Nakifuma where they had showed up to show support for National Unity Platform who gathered ahead of the visit by their Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi.

According to Kyagulanyi, police also blocked ambulances offered by some individuals to rush the people to hospitals were blocked and he also requested the RPC to offer the police ambulance to help, in vain.

At Nakifuma Ssaza ground, hundreds of people showed up to meet Kyagulanyi. Before addressing them, he performed a few songs and entertained a very cheerful crowd.

He is currently heading to Buikwe. However, police has blocked the main road and asked him to use a different route, something they refused to adhere to. They were able to negotiate and come to an agreement with police which allowed them to move. Meanwhile, teargas and live bullets have rocked Mukono this morning as police attempted to disperse supporters of National Unity Platform who gathered ahead of the visit by their Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi who is campaigning in the area.  

Kyagulanyi is today expected to hold campaigns in Buikwe, Lugazi and Mukono districts. He used the Gayaza-Bugerere road this morning and made a stopover at Nakifuma on his way to Buikwe.

At Nakasajja trading center, police fired teargas to disperse residents alongside the road up to Kalagi trading center.

According to Reverend Peter Bakaluba the NUP LC5 candidate in Mukono who is heading the campaign trail, says they have selected up to six venues for Kyagulanyi to make stopovers to address his supporters.
