Youth wanted for stealing computers during church retreat

Two people in Sironko are in police custody for allegedly stealing three computers and an assortment of items like bulbs and wires from Budadiri Girls Secondary School. 

According to Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region spokesperson, the duo is identified as Moses Wajambuka,27, and Yefesi,32, both residents of Gibinda cell in Budadiri town council.

Taitika says that the suspects were part of over 1,000 youths from different catholic churches in the Eastern region that came for a week-long youth conference held at Kalawa Christ the King Catholic Church in Budadiri town council organized by Tororo catholic Archdiocese last week. 

However, during the conference, the participants were using Budadiri Girl’s secondary school for accommodation, which gave the suspects a chance to break into a computer lab and steal the items.

When the conference ended on Saturday, the school management discovered that the computer lab had been broken into and 3 computers and several other items stolen.

The Director of studies at Budadiri girl’s secondary school Francis Giboji says that they conducted a search jointly with the police that led to the arrest of the duo when they found one of the computers in their house.

They still searching for the two other missing computers and items.
