Young Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping 104-Year-Old Woman in Fort Portal

Detectives at Karangura Police Post in Fort Portal North Division have arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Mbusa Byamukama, a resident of Nyarukamba Zone, Nyakitokoli Parish, Karangura Subcounty, Kabarole District, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 104-year-old woman.

The victim, Kabakidi Maria, aged 104 years, is a resident of Kyabwire Cell, Nyakitokoli Parish, Karangura Subcounty, in Fort Portal North Division.

According to SP Vicent Twesige, the PRO Rwenzori West, the incident allegedly occurred on July 28, 2024, at around 3:00 AM. Bwabale, an askari (security guard) at Three-Star Nursery and Primary School, heard a disturbance in one of the classrooms while on duty. Upon investigation, the askari found the suspect with the victim.

It is unclear how the two individuals arrived at the school or gained access to the classroom.

The police were called to the scene, and relevant statements were recorded. The victim underwent a medical examination, and further investigations are underway.
